LIVING BY FAITH

As believers in Christ, we are justified by faith. The tribulations we face should not sway us or make us lose trust in God, for troubles are meant to develop patience in us. This patience comes with knowing and believing that God is always in control and that we must learn to handle everything God’s way.

In order for faith to become real in your life, it must be tested and tried. God wants your faith to become the bedrock of your reality such that you become unshakeable in Christ no matter the obstacle. Call it a boot camp for spiritual growth!

In the beginning of your walk with Christ, He will reward you for your faith. You will enjoy an intense and emotional experience filled with light, sweetness and blessings. However, as time goes by, God expects you to come to know Him in a more intimate and faithful way.

In order to achieve this, He must make you realize that yours is a life of faith that requires walking by faith. Conscious blessings will be withdrawn, hurdles will come, and you may even be afflicted. Your faith will be tested right then and there.

What are some of the character traits that we can identify in a person who is living their life by faith?

  1. They are happy and give thanks to God even as they face trials and tribulations in their life. (Matthew 5:7)
  2. They bless the name of the Lord throughout the hard times in their life. They realize that the challenges of life are tests of faith and praise God even before they receive their deliverance.

What is the purpose of testing a believer’s faith? Tests and trials of faith are the only way to realize that God’s character is genuinely trustworthy. It is not enough to see your relationship with God as a way to enjoy emotions of happiness and contentment. Christ Himself said that persecution will come to believers in the world. How will you be able to stand on God’s word if you have never gone through the experience of being tried and tested?

When we get saved, we are all naive, expecting that life will be good from then on. We feel good and are full of joy due to our new found relationship with Christ. It is all love, peace, and joy. However, it is only a bad father who would allow their children to live in a bubble without preparing them for the challenges that for sure are awaiting them in the real world.

God wants you to grow in your faith so that you become strong enough to stand when the time comes – to stand on the Rock of Ages when everyone else is falling away. Believe me; you will be worth more after the trial by fire than in the initial days of mere emotional delight. God wants His character proven so that you come to a point where you trust Him totally and unconditionally. He wants you to believe that He is who He says He is despite every situation around you that contradicts His true nature.

You must be steadfast and remain true to God’s character no matter what He does. As Job (Job 13:15) humbly admitted, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.” This day, choose to trust wholeheartedly in the goodness of the Lord!

Shalom.

Do you want to have a personal relationship with Christ? Then you must believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins. Repent of your sins and ask Him to come into your heart. Only Christ can reconcile you to your heavenly Father. Say this prayer:

Lord Jesus, I accept that you are the Son of God and you died on the cross for my sins. I repent of all my sins and I ask for your forgiveness. Right now I make you my Lord and Savior. Come into my heart. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Thank you, Lord, for shedding your blood for me at the cross. Amen.

You have now become a child of God! Take the time to read your bible and find a church that teaches the uncompromising word of God. Let the Holy Spirit work in you to help you become the person God created you to be. God bless you!
